Fished the full moon a couple of weeks ago so I decided to take a day off from work to fish the new moon weekend as well. Started off Friday morning around 9 and fished till noon. Winds from the SW to about 10mph. Stopped to fish a slick on the way towards the South shoreline and caught a few sandies. Headed towards our usual hole starting from the South shoreline and drifted towards the middle of the bay. Managed some keeper trout with some sandies mixed in. All under popping corks and live shrimp. No fish over 23 were caught this trip like the last time we were in the bay. Headed in when it got too hot. The majors seem to be during the hottest part of the day this month. Didn't mind not fishing them as it is almost unbearable. Fished mitchell's cut Friday evening with live mullet but only caught hardheads.
On Saturday we decided to start early and headed out around 7. We fished some reefs along the North shoreline and pulled in a couple of trout and sandies. Seaweed was rolling through the area so we once again headed off towards our usual spot. Same results on this day. A few keeper trout but nothing too big. Sharks are showing up in the bay as well. Caught about 3-4 using mullet (live and dead). Fished some shell in deeper water with one trout to show for it. Ended the day Saturday fishing out in the gulf past Mitchell's cut. The swells were 5 feet easy, but we managed to get out there. I think we started a trend as other boats in the cut quickly followed. I guess they just needed to see that it could be done. Caught a few gafftop but nothing to throw in the ice chest. Moved back in the cut for a while and pulled in 3 small trout on live shrimp under a popping cork. Looking forward to some cooler weather but I realize this is Texas. I may be waiting a while for that. Guess I will have to endure the heat for now. Fishing has picked up recently so that makes it a little easier to do. I would like to thank everyone for reading and sending me comments. Over 1200 page visits so far! That's pretty cool if you ask me. Thanks for the support and enjoy the video report!
