Could not pass up the opportunity to fish the weekend of the "Supermoon" so I headed down to the coast to fish with my dad. The major was from 12-3 so we headed out around 10:30ish. Weather was hot (96) with a feels like of hotter (108). Catching fish makes you not think about those sort of things. Winds were surprisingly calm from the SSW. It was a good day. I had two personal best trout on the day (4.5# and 5# 26 inches). I let the 5 pounder go as he met the length required for a release (on our boat it's anything over 24 goes back in the water). The other trout went in the ice chest with the rest of the fish. We caught the best fish right around noon drifting 4-5 feet of green water off the South shoreline. Neighbors told us they caught in shallow dirty water so by no means are they concentrated in those areas. Used popping corks with live shrimp. All leaders were 3.5 feet or more. Nice weather, nice stringer, and a nice video report. Can't ask for much more. Looking forward to getting back in the kayak. Fished Calaveras In the Hobie last weekend but didn't have anything worth reporting. I will take what I learned from that trip and apply it to this next weekend. Brought my cast net, bait bucket and shrimp back with me so I would say I'm prepared for Calaveras this next time.
